Geodes #18 & 19

Below are two more geodes I created in San Francisco last weekend. I found some nice unused holes that let to nowhere, right on the main Valencia drag. Pretty standard rounded, golden geodes made of resin. Once again, my map is updated for your hunting pleasure.

Geode #17

Last weekend I went to my old city San Francisco. Forever I’ve been wanting to get up there to make some geodes and finally got the chance. In between drinking with friends and eating the crap loads of amazing food you can find every other step in the Mission these days, I was hunting for any possible hole to use.

I have a list of more to hit when I get back next year, but over the next few days I’ll be revealing what I did get done. Check out #17 shown below, silver resin in a large vent that had been painted over. This is located in the Mission District, I’ll be updating my map this week as well. Lovely mural on the rest of the wall, no?

The Lighted Bridge, Episode 2, In Progress

The Lighted Bridge, Initial Sketch

The Lighted Bridge, First Layout

I’m working on another illustration for The Lighted Bridge. Episode Two is under way and now being edited. For this episode we are going for a darker theme than the first, with German Expressionism as our main inspiration. I’m trying to portray lots of strange angles, shadows, and a giant deconstructed clock. There are a lot of death and love themes and clock faces and face gears. The whole episode is filled with themes and amazing imagery, it’s definitely a challenge putting it all together and making it work. I went through a lot of iterations before sending this first round, adding and subtracting to find a good balance of imagery. We have still to add and subtract, but I am happy with the main shell of the image so far.

I’ve been continuing to take a lot of photos with my iphone and capturing some great moments in my travels. I’m keeping a theme of not caring about clear and crisp quality. These photos find the mood of the world I found myself in which inspired much creativity (the result was not these photos). Sometimes a good 6 hours alone in a car will force some thoughtfulness into your life.

Those of you that know me, know that I adore crows very much. They’re always an omen to me and I’m fascinated by their intelligence. I’m happy my new friend posed so well.

Pie in the Sky

I haven’t posted in a while and only have corporate work to show for myself. Rather than subjecting anyone to what I must be staring at day in and day out, let’s just look at a dreamscape and wish we were there.

These two shots were taken from my crappy iphone on the flight from New York to San Francisco. They actually caught the beauty of what I was seeing, natural gradients and all. Both of them might even be better for the sorry lens on my phone. Commence far-away look.
